Feb 9 Paintings

Ok, so a couple of these are from last week, but the one in green is from today (Feb 9th). They are all done in oil. For the most part I'm using either canvas board or canvas paper.

I was looking at trying to paint like Sargent in this one.
Quick 30 minute figure painting with live model.
6 hour portrait session with model
another study of Sargent, in color
Some quick figure paintings. I think these were 20 minutes long.

Figure Paintings

I've been doing some figure painting this year as a way of keeping in touch with my traditional roots. I just hope that I have the opportunity to keep painting while having a career in digital art. I'm also going to throw a few figure drawings in here as I approached them in a new way. Since I'm late posting these, I'll post the ones from January first and then update the ones from February as I go.

Figure Work

Thesis has been keeping me from being as active on my blog as I'd like but that doesn't mean I haven't been drawing. Here are some links to some of my figure work that I've posted on Instagram. I have also posted work to my Facebook account which you can access by clicking on the Facebook link. Here are just a few of the figures I've drawn in the last few months. Again, for more click on either the Instagram or Facebook links above.

Next semester I am taking advanced figure drawing/painting as well as portraiture so expect to see more artwork soon!

Self Caricature

We have been doing caricatures in class so I thought I would work one of mine up to final paint. I had a pretty good time doing it and it didn't take nearly as long as I thought it would.

Pelican Painting (Digital)

We have a digital paint club here at school (DIPSY) and every week we have an hour long competition based on a theme. This week we had a special guest, Aaron Blaise, so we had a special contest. This time instead of an hour we were given 24 to come up with something that we thought Aaron would like. Knowing that he loves wildlife and Florida I decided to do this painting of a pelican. I hope everyone likes it.

Editing Concepts

So I am in my second semester of Sophomore year here at Ringling College of Art and Design. It's been a roller coaster year so far, which is why I haven't updated my blog in awhile. I will try to rectify that as much as possible in the coming months.

In the meantime, here are some drawings I did for a story pitch based on nursery rhymes and fables. The first is from Aesop's fables about a doe and a lion. The doe tries to hide from hunters in a cave. Little does she know, it is a lion's cave. In my adaptation, it will be a lost hunter trying to take shelter in a bear cave from a sudden thunderstorm.

The second one is an adaptation of Little Miss Muffet. In mine, Little Miss Muffet is waiting at the bus stop when a big biker named Spyder comes to sit down next to her.

Digital Paintings

My artwork has been slow this summer due to the death of my grandmother. Things are starting to slow down so I wanted to update my blog with some of my recent work. Enjoy!
